This is a partial list of projects and noteworthy accomplishments by Mr. Truax, as DLD LLC, and in prior positions.
Project manager for the construction of a 1.2 meter class
astronomical telescope. Also directly responsible for the optical test and alignment procedures and the
design of the CCD camera corrector optics. (Calypso Telescope).
Designed and built a white light interferometer for testing image quality
interference filters. (Andover Corporation).
Designed a unique imaging spectrograph for underwater measurements of self luminous objects. (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute). A white paper about the imaging results is available in PDF format.
Optical and mechanical design of an instrument to measure the shape of the Human cornea (VisionRx.com, Inc.).
Key member of management team that developed and instituted Zygo's Total Quality Management
Program which realized a 35% reduction in overall product build time.
Developed a custom lens system to align the COSTAR corrector for the Hubble Space Telescope.
Developed new method for testing spherical surfaces using interferometry resulting in a factor of 4
improvement in accuracy over existing methods.
Developed new and innovative interferometer design for testing optical systems of compact disk player, going from concept to delivery in 9 months.
Developed optical non-contact velocity sensing gauge for measuring the velocity and length of moving objects. Designed the optical system and wrote prototype software for data acquisition and
signal processing.
Designed, built and delivered to the customer on time, a high accuracy interferometer for use in quality control inspection of semiconductor lithography lenses.
Designed and built a scanning confocal microscope for semiconductor inspection.
Designed a series of microscope objectives for a custom laser machining application
